We have two volunteer positions as well as Special Projects volunteers at the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center.  Each position is vital to our organization.

Cashiers:  Their position is at the front desk; they greet visitors and make them feel welcome.  Cashiers ask visitors to sign the guest book and answer visitor’s questions to the best of their ability.  The main responsibility of cashiers is to accept payments for purchases, to wrap the purchases, and maintain an accurate record of daily sales.

Docents:  Their position is at the desk in the craft gallery.  Docents greet visitors, offer help when needed, and leave them to browse through the displays while staying alert to offer help.  Docents encourage visitors to view the current exhibition in the art gallery, and answer visitor’s questions to the best of their ability.  The main responsibility of docents is to write up sales tickets for visitors wanting to make purchases and bringing both the item(s) and the ticket to the cashier.
